These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern the use of the Kangoo app and website ("Kangoo", "we", "us"), operated by DHL Administração e Participação, CNPJ 34.413.678/0001-18. By creating an account or using Kangoo, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use Kangoo.
Kangoo is a language-learning app with structured lessons, conversation practice with AI pronunciation assessment, spaced-repetition vocabulary review, and content generated with AI assistance and reviewed before publication. New lessons are added periodically. Some content is free; full access requires a Premium subscription (Section 3).
Premium subscribers get unlimited access to all modules and lessons, the Speaking Arena, and spaced-repetition Review. Without a subscription, the first Básico-level module is free and the first two lessons of every other module are available as a sample.
The current price is always shown on the subscription screen inside the app before confirmation. The subscription is recurring and renews automatically each billing cycle (monthly) until you cancel.
Our plan is designed around a 12-month study journey — that's the reference used to plan price and content progression. This is a usage reference, not an obligation: billing remains monthly and you may cancel in any given month, with no penalty (Section 4).
We may change the subscription price with prior notice; the change only applies starting the next renewal cycle after notice, never retroactively.
Every Premium subscription includes one free linked slot (e.g., for a family member), with Premium access for as long as the primary subscription is active. You may purchase additional extra slots at 50% off the primary subscription price, billed recurring, and cancel each slot individually at any time.
John is an AI character for practicing voice conversation. Any logged-in user gets 5 free messages, for the lifetime of the account (they do not renew). Premium subscribers get an additional limit of up to 15 messages per day. Anyone who wants to talk beyond these limits — Premium or not — may subscribe to the "John +50 messages/week" add-on, billed monthly and separately, which grants 50 extra messages per week while active; it follows the same billing, cancellation, and refund rules as the Premium subscription (Sections 3.2, 4, and 5).
You may cancel your subscription at any time, with no penalty and no reason required:
Effect of cancellation: you keep Premium access through the end of the period you already paid for — only the next charge is stopped. Cancelling an extra slot follows the same logic, individually, without affecting the primary subscription.
First month: if you cancel before the end of the first billed cycle, we refund the amount proportional to unused days. Simply request by email or cancel via the app within the first month.
From the second cycle onward: cancellation applies to the next renewal — the period already paid for is not refunded but remains fully available until it ends.
App Store/Play Store subscriptions also follow Apple's/Google's own refund policies, which may process refund requests directly through those stores in addition to the channel above. This does not affect any statutory right of withdrawal or refund that cannot be limited by contract in your jurisdiction.
Promotional codes distributed by Kangoo grant temporary, uncharged Premium access for the period specified in the code. Upon expiry, Premium access ends automatically, with no auto-renewal or charge, unless you subscribe separately.
All pedagogical content (lessons, dialogues, exercises, audio) is owned by Kangoo/DHL Administração e Participação or licensed for use in the app. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the content within the app for personal learning purposes. Copying, redistributing, or commercially using the content without authorization is prohibited.
You agree not to: use Kangoo for unlawful purposes; access other users' accounts; reverse-engineer or bulk-extract content from the app; share your account beyond legitimately purchased linked slots (Section 3.3); submit abusive, discriminatory, or unlawful content in speaking exercises. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
Kangoo is provided "as is." We do not guarantee specific learning outcomes. AI-generated pronunciation and content evaluations may occasionally contain inaccuracies. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
You may delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account, or by email request. Deletion permanently removes all your personal and progress data (see Privacy Policy, Section 5) and cancels any active subscription linked to it.
We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated by email or in-app notice with reasonable advance notice before taking effect.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. For users in the European Union or California, additional data-protection rights guaranteed by GDPR or CCPA/CPRA remain applicable as described in the Privacy Policy, regardless of this clause.
